Hello
Thanks for joining me on these calls where I am going to discuss an approach to astrology that I have been using since I started practicing astrology several years ago - an approach I am calling "Universal Astrology". You can see my bio at the bottom of this page and also the Testimonials of those taking the "Universal Astrology" Classes.

So, What is "Universal Astrology?"

There are several themes central to "Universal Astrology", some are philosophical and some are technical. First and foremost, is the philosophical premise that in keeping with the Eastern view, "Universal Astrology" acknowledges that we are all aspects of God, the Great Universal Power. We are a divine reflection of this power. Astrology itself shows the universe as God's revealed form. In fact everything is God's revealed form and when studied leads to this point or understanding. But Astrology itself is the specific science of studying universal energies and how / why they create / affect beings on Earth. This may sound like a Spiritual view – and it is to some extent – but that does not preclude its scientific nature. When properly understood Spirituality is simply religious science. Every religion has a mystical / spiritual / scientific background.

Just like different religions and paths are all ways to explain the same God, the same universal source, different systems of astrology are merely ways to explain the same divine universal / astrological experience or condition. Typically, when I hear people speak about astrology they are actually speaking about the astrology system they practice. Just like a person who thinks their religion "IS" religion – many speak about astrology in similarly monolithic ways. Actually the living universe is much greater than the human systems we have invented to explain it. Many even discredit / limit astrology because of the assertion that it was "invented by human beings."

I would contend that "Astrology" (in its pure, "Universal" form) was not invented by human beings any more than God / The Universe was invented by human beings. The "Astrology Systems" of the world are the attempt of mankind to awaken and discover the divine universal energies both within himself and that create life - just as spirituality is a discovery of our divine nature. Religion did not invent "spirituality", rather spirituality exists whether there is a formal religion to explain it or not. "Astrology" existed long before mankind was here to explain it or perceive it, and it will continue long after we are gone. Astrology systems, like religions, are more cultural in nature. They are paths that refer to the source - not the source itself.

Stated simply, "Universal Astrology" proposes what amounts  to a radical re-framing of how astrology is viewed and discussed.

"Astrology" is not the systems humans
have invented to explain the

Living, Divine Universe,
Astrology is the Divine Universe Itself.

Yet instead of realizing the universe as pointing to the ultimate opening and flowering of human potential, astrology is too often looked at as something we must "overcome" - something that shows the problems in life. This disconnect from the universe itself mirrors our disconnect from the deeper holistic wisdom at the heart or our being. "Universal Astrology" proposes the return to a truthful understanding of our "universal nature" and understands astrology to be a useful and divine practice that facilitates that return.

If you want to experience the sublime beauty of the Moon, you need only look at her and be bathed in her light. Yet too often we are looking at the fingers pointing to the Moon, wondering why we have not been moved by her beauty. Astrology systems are like fingers pointing to the Moon. They indicate where we need to look, and point the way to the goal. But they should not be confused with the true source of power – the Universe itself.

This perspective is not an attempt to discredit the world's great astrological systems, not at all - is to enhance them  and realign their purpose with the source itself. And of course, there are many great astrologers who are already thinking this way and focused on this universal perspective. I'm not attempting to be provocative or antagonistic. But in general, I do not hear astrology being talked about in this universal way, not by Eastern astrologers or Western astrologers.

"Universal Astrology" glorifies the universe and all its energies as the great cosmic being that creates all life forms as a reflection of divine purpose and astrology as the Science of perceiving that purpose. This universal perspective shatters the divisiveness and sense of separation of mankind, not only from astrology, but from his universal/cosmic nature as well. Once we unify that division, all others fall into place.

::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::

From a technical standpoint, "Universal Astrology" places greater emphasis on phenomena and principles that have to do with this observable universe and common astrological factors like planets, signs and houses that "anchor" all systems. These observable / anchoring principles are understood to be the most important and common threads that tie together all systems. This is the reason all "systems" of astrology work and lead to a truthful answer when organized by a dedicated soul. Similar to how all spiritual paths / religions can lead to liberation.

So far I have developed a five distinct qualities of "Universal Astrology". First I'll give a brief overview of each and then go into greater detail.

First, "Universal Astrology" legitimizes all "systems" of astrology -- unifying them under a more universal umbrella. In "Universal Astrology", anchoring principles are more important than specific methods and systems. Meaning, the Sun, Moon, Mars brings forth the same energy regardless of the system being used. The same is true with astrology signs and astrology houses. Once we understand the "Anchoring Principles", we can understand astrology. Until we understand the "Anchoring Principles", we will not. Once we understand the "Anchoring Principles", we rely on "Anchoring Techniques" to organize the information powerfully. Then, in keeping with the other tenets of the Universal Astrology we acknowledge "Anchoring Processes" that show the growth patterns. "Anchoring Conditions" show universal phenomena such as retrogression, combustion, waxing moon, waning moon, relationship of planets/signs/houses to each other, et cetera. "Anchoring Moments" assess the dynamic nature of planets in transit at any given time.

Second, "Universal Astrology" breaks down the barriers and limitations human beings have placed on himself and, by extension, astrology. "Universal Astrology" sees the outer universe as a mirror to our inner universe. It sees astrology as a powerful tool for helping to dissolve the fictitious bonds of the ego that keep individuals and mankind trapped in a low level of awareness. Rather than astrology being something "out there", "Universal Astrology" makes astrology something "in here".

The notion of the Planets or other universal energies as Lording over us in some inimical way is immature. Saturn for instance is often seen as an oppressive force that restricts us, from the outside. In fact all of the energies of the planets come through us - all the time. Saturn for instance simply represents the tangible fears we have. A birth chart shows where those fears will hide. Saturn transits and cycles awakens him - compelling us to release the fear-driven strategies in our life that hold us back. A mindset determined to "Defeat the bad stuff and Get the good Stuff" often results from this externalized perspective. It is an immature stage of astrology understanding and life understanding - unworthy of our divine purpose and unworthy of Astrology. The universal surrogates, the Planets can be seen as great teachers, Eternal beings. These universal energies formed us - operate through us and compel us to grow into full awareness.

Third, "Universal Astrology" sees astrology as connecting us to a living, three-dimensional universe. Too often astrologers confine astrology to merely the practice of reading charts. They espouse an astrology style that keeps the three-dimensional universe at a distance. Astrology then becomes merely a system of maps and symbols and archetypes. "Universal Astrology" acknowledges that level of connection, but also takes it to a much deeper level. The astrology chart of a person or an event is a snapshot of the living, organic universe itself. Reducing astrology to simply reading charts does not facilitate the depth worthy of this remarkable Science.

Fourth, "Universal Astrology" asserts an integrated astrology approach. Meaning, each person is all 12 signs, all of the planets, all of the houses. From a teaching perspective all entrenched personality projections are liquefied. For example: Every person is "a Capricorn" in some way, because Capricorn will fall somewhere in their chart and be an important life lesson for them in some way. For a person with an Aries rising sign, they will learn about the nature of Capricorn through their career and by handling pressure and responsibility, because Capricorn Falls in the 10th house.

Fifth, "Universal Astrology" seeks to unify the connections with other healing paradigms such as Yoga, Reiki, Tai Chi, Acupuncture / Chinese Medicine, Native American Shamanism , et cetera. Common among all of these holistic/metaphysical healing systems are things also common to astrology - the five elements, Chakras, Color therapy, Mantra or sound therapy, Herbalism, and every other natural healing system devised by mankind. The dignified place of astrology as a divine, healing tool that unites, rather than divides, comes to fruition in "Universal Astrology". Additionally, the commonality between these metaphysical systems is acknowledged. Dissolving divisive barriers between systems clarifies and empowers each in its own unique way.

Comments about "The Ascendant- 108 Planets of Vedic Astrology"

"Sam Geppis new text, The Ascendant brilliantly explores each of the twelve Vedic lagnas in great depth. This is an excellent book for both beginning and intermediate level students. The Ascendant provides needed research
and access to one of the most important and fundamental keys in Vedic natal chart analysis."

"While many authors have attempted to explain the basic rules of a planets behavior as a house lord, Sadasiva is the first to produce a book explaining the very specific, and often times surprising, detailed rules given by Brihat Parashara Hora Sastra for each planet in each ascendant, revealing how all the planets combine to create the nature, character, growth and evolution of the ascending sign."

UNIVERSAL ASTROLOGY
TESTIMONIALS:

Below are testimonials from students who have been learning
"Universal Astrology".

Most of these testimonials were written after only two classes.

I want to echo Lhynn’s sentiment expressed in tonight’s class --

“I am learning so much here, I have never learned anything of this depth in an Astrology
class before in such a short amount of time.”

I agree.  For one thing this is much, much, more then just an Astrology class.  It feels
really sacred… like spiritual practice….. again, probably because of it’s ties to Yoga
and Ayurveda.  It certainly makes me want to recommit to deepening those personal
practices within my life. I feel in the potential of understanding this "Universal Astrology",
incredible personal transformational implications akin to alchemy- the truth of which I
can not consciously fathom with my mind as it is now.  Something in me senses that if
I dive deeply into it this practice and marinate in it, at the very least I will be able to
show up for life in a deeper, more authentic, more empowered way and, that this practice
of Vedic “Universal” Astrology, will inspire some profound glimpses into the true nature of
being- that interconnectedness of everything and everyone.  What greater gift is there?
A deep, heartfelt thank you for sharing your knowledge with such passion and
compassion.

My experience with Sam's "Universal Astrology" tele-classes has so far been amazing. He's clarity, humor, knowledge is very inspiring and uplifting.
There is no drama in his approach to charts and a lot of demystification and
clarification about the language (sometimes "scary") of the old/classic texts which were written in different times. Their actuality and validity can be reviewed through new eyes for our "modern" world....and Sam is doing an exceptional job in this.

The way we have approached charts' reading in the classes has surpassed my
expectations and has helped view the overall picture from different angles.
I would highly recommend Sam's teachings/classes for anyone who's either just starting with Jyotish as well as advanced students.

Sam Geppi has a unique voice in Astrology today where he's managed to adapt his knowledge and his wisdom from Western and Vedic astrology, Yoga, and many other sources combined. The result is that his approach is groundbreaking in the sense that he doesn't divide people but bring them together.

Sam is both pragmatic and holistically minded at the same time. I feel that it is Sam's unique visionary quality of spirit and fresh viewpoint that enables him to provide us with new techniques that are mind-blowingly practical and to the point. I think they benefit the professional astrologer as much as the beginner or advanced student.
Sam has very special gifts to share and as a student of Vedic I feel lucky and privileged to be able to learn from him and I've already been able to adapt his techniques successfully.

I have been studying Vedic Astrology on my own with tons of books and also using the net which his how I came across Sam. Everyday I would tune into his Daily Forecast which then intrigued me to purchase his book "The Ascendant 108 Planets of Vedic Astrology". This book is THE most detailed book on the accendants. I just started taking Sam's "Universal Astrology" class and for me the way he ties all the details
together in order to better read a chart is amazing...and this is only my second class!!! WOW!!! Needless to say this will not be my last class.

As a student in Sam Geppi's Universal Astrology class I must say that I have learned a great deal in a very short time to help me understand mine and others charts..I did western astrology before taking this class and I never saw the reasons why I was like or acted in certain manners, relationships etc . His teaching has brought all this into my life in a few lessons. Sam is a excellent teacher and I appreciate him giving his gifts thru these sevices to others!

I have been taking the astrology class with Sam Geppi and have been amazed at the information that I have never found in any of my vedic books and I have several. I have been studying for approx 10 years on my own - not good enough!  Have to need to have a teacher and Sam is the one to have.

Sam has broken down the planets into tiny little pieces and then put them all
together into a very alive beings.  I love the way he has made the planets come to life for me and how in only 4 classes my understanding has deepened 10 fold.  I am so looking forward to more and more classes in the future with Sam.

Thanks Sam!

I am a western astrologer who has been interested in Vedic astrology for many years and was pleased to hear that Sam was offering his "Universal Astrology" classes online.  I find Sam's unique way of conveying the "anchoring principles" that he is presenting in class to be both illuminating and exciting.  What I thought that I knew intellectually concerning some of the basic principles of astrology have taken on a whole new meaning on many levels and that's just in the first two weeks.  Thank you, Sam.  Please keep it coming!
